Specialist Status

Business Enterprise and Science

The DCSF has awarded the school Specialist Status for Business and Enterprise and Science for September 2009 in recognition of our achievements and efforts in these areas. We will be the only school in Northamptonshire with this combination of specialisms and only one of five throughout the whole country.

Mission Statement

The Duston School aims to be at the heart of our local community: a vibrant establishment with a distinct identity. We aim to be a centre of excellence which encourages and nurtures both an enterprising and creative culture and an understanding of science and its application in the 21st century, to promote a greater understanding of the world and the place of individuals within it. We will strive to develop a culture whereby our learners, whether they be students or adults, are better equipped to acquire the skills and competencies needed to effectively operate within the working and social environment of the future. The achievement of Specialist Status in Business and Science, and Trust Status, will help enrich and enhance learning through additional resources and expertise. We aim to offer personalisation to all within our school - an approach which embraces the aspirations and aptitudes of our young learners in meaningful ways. We will provide interdependent pathways that support flexible learning and ensure that we are developing a sustainable and changeable workforce for the future. We aim to make dynamic advances both within our own school and within our wider community by developing a passion for learning, reflection and thereby allowing personal growth.
