There are two words alongside the achievement agenda which describe what is not only unique, but also fundamental to everything that we do at The Duston School – respect and care. In essence, we expect all our young people, staff and parents alike to demonstrate these qualities in everything that they do. I believe very strongly that if we as adults have respect for our students, they in turn will respect us and together we can achieve anything.

To support our focus in improving Learning and Teaching, we have introduced an eclectic range of opportunities to instil enthusiasm, excitement and energy into the learning at The Duston School. This includes:

• Specialist College in Business and Enterprise, and Science;
• Trust Status;
• Innovative appointments of Professionals in Residence;
• A CMCD™ School (Consistency Management and Co-operative Discipline);
• Police Officer and PCSO appointed;
• Pilot to a National Health Care Trust project.

We are very proud of our Ofsted report in May 2008 which stated “outstanding and decisive leadership” bringing about “rapid improvement in students’ achievement and personal development.”

In June 2009, the Senior Leadership Team won the National Award for Outstanding Leadership and we firmly believe that we are now taking the next steps in our journey to become an outstanding school.
